Swing Legend Norma Miller and Author Alan Govenar Launch 'Stompin' at the Savoy' Book Tour at Blue Pepper

FORT MYERS, FL (PUBLISHERS NEWSWIRE) -- Swing legend Norma Miller will autograph the newest book of her life story and perform her one-woman show at Blue Pepper on Wednesday, March 15th, 2006. Her special guest, Alan Govenar, will be on hand to meet the public and sign copies of his new book, 'Stompin' at the Savoy,' an inspirational story of Norma Miller's life written for young readers.
The book signing event begins at 7:00 PM and kicks off the national book tour. At 8:00 PM a special menu will be available for guests who choose to stay for Ms. Miller's One-Woman Show in Blue Pepper's Cafe.
Norma Miller got her start as a professional dancer as a teenager in the 1930s, when she was invited to join the legendary swing dance troupe Whitey's Lindy Hoppers. In 2003, the National Endowment for the Arts honored Norma Miller with a National Heritage Fellowship, the highest form of recognition for folk and traditional artists in America. Norma Miller lives in Florida, where she continues to teach, choreograph, dance, and "swing, baby, swing!"
Alan Govenar is a filmmaker, photographer, folklorist, and writer. He is the author of numerous books, including Masters of Traditional Arts: A Biographical Dictionary and Osceola: Memories of a Sharecropper's daughter, winner of a Boston Globe - Horn Book Honor. Alan Govenar lives in Texas.
Blue Pepper is a full service restaurant serving lunch and dinner, with an extensive wine area and gourmet market.
