NEW YORK, NY -- The saying 'There's no place like home' takes on new meaning in the debut issue of Ultimate Homes magazine, where the least expensive property featured is just under $8 million. Ultimate Homes showcases a first-ever list of more than 850 of the dreamiest dream homes for sale in the country. This new annual issue from the publishers of the leading luxury real estate magazine, Unique Homes, hits newsstands today.

Leading off the issue is its much anticipated "top ten list" of properties selling for up to $75 million.

Percentage wise, homes valued at a million dollars or higher represent the fastest growing segment in the housing market, with approximately 35,000 homes priced in excess of $1 million sold in 2004. And yet, while this sector is skyrocketing, no one has undertaken the daunting task of ranking America's top-tier homes-until now.

"We are the first to compile such an exhaustive list," said Rick Goodwin, Publisher of Ultimate Homes and its luxury real estate parent publication, Unique Homes. "With our debut issue of Ultimate Homes, we have created a true portrait of the luxury market at its highest levels by identifying and ranking the most expensive and spectacular properties on the market. We're excited and look forward to escorting readers into these homes across America with each issue."

In addition to the list of the most expensive properties for sale, Ultimate Homes identifies the country's top luxury agents, and gives readers unparalleled insight into news, trends and hotspots in the luxury real estate market.

"Ultimate Homes has become the new resource for America's wealthiest families looking for the next special place to call home. The properties included here are unlike any other in the country. We're pleased to be the first magazine to offer a list of this kind," says Goodwin.

The exclusive list of the most elite properties includes:

Tied at Number Ten: For $45 million, 25 acres in Dallas, Texas with a 48,000 square-foot chateau and private hair salon; OR a 5.6-acre Hamptons compound in Montauk, NY, once the vacation spot of Elizabeth Taylor, Jackie Kennedy Onassis and the Rolling Stones.

Number Eight: For $50 million, a Brentwood, California ranch, formerly owned by screen legend Robert Taylor that has also hosted a Presidential gala for the Clintons.

Number Two: For $70 million, a penthouse atop the Pierre Hotel in New York City that has the highest-ever asking price for a Manhattan apartment, plus a $47,700-a-month maintenance fee.

Number One: Topping the list at $75 million, a Bridgehampton, New York, estate with an 18-hole golf course, 14 gardens, 60 acres of land, a 75-foot swimming pool, waterfront views and more than 20,000 square feet of living space.

And just who owns these modern day palaces? Unique Homes and The Institute for Luxury Home Marketing recently conducted a survey which revealed 73% of homeowners who own at least one home valued at $2.5 million or above are under the age of 55 and are mostly self-made millionaires.
