DALLAS, Tex. -- Co-authors Jack H. McCubbin, MD, and Catherine M. Schaffer, PA-C teamed up to write newly-released "The Miracle Within" (ISBN: 0978633601, Barkman Creek Press); the book offers fascinating facts and stunning photography that promises to renew readers' sense of wonder about the creation of life.
"The Miracle Within" takes readers on a visual tour of the world inside the womb to reveal the magic of nature and what makes people human.
One editorial review says the book is "illustrated magic."
In addition to its stunning photos and loving quotes about childbirth, "The Miracle Within" provides a manual of practical advice and wisdom for mothers-to-be.
Dr. McCubbin and Ms. Schaffer guide readers through the growth and development of human life from the ovulation of one egg to the full-term infant; the book is divided into trimesters and carefully examines the unique changes that occur within the body.
"The Miracle Within" also serves as a teaching guide for children and adults; for parents to share with their teenagers; for anyone interested in the miracle of life; and as an educational tool for schools, universities, libraries, and resource groups.
Dr. McCubbin has delivered thousands of babies and is also the author of "The Unborn Baby Book" (published in seven countries) and "The Labor Room Book." He has written numerous articles and textbook chapters, and has served on the faculty of major universities. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He maintains a private practice in Texarkana, Tex., where he lives with his wife, Liza.
"Writing the book has truly been a labor of love," Dr. McCubbin, said.
Schaffer has served as a Clinical Associate with Baylor College of Medicine in the Department of Obstetrics and the Department of Surgery. She has worked with women suffering from high-risk medical problems during pregnancy, as well as women with HIV and substance-abuse issues. She is the author of many articles on pregnancy and resides in Bridgeport, NY, with her husband, Rich; she devotes her time to writing and consulting.
